A Beginner’s Guide to Cleaning Your Tractor
One of the most important elements of maintaining your tractor is to keep it clean. Built-up grass, dirt, mud, and debris can damage the finish or seep into your vehicle, clogging up the engine. Take the time to wash your machine a few times a year or if it’s especially dirty after a long day of work. A clean machine will function much better and will also look nicer. If you’re not sure where to get started, we’ve crafted this brief guide to help you clean your tractor. Keep reading to learn more, and if you’ve any questions, get in touch with us at Central Arkansas Mahindra. You’ll find us in Little Rock, AR, where we also serve all those in Sherwood.
Review Your Owner’s Manual
The owner’s manual is the best reference for all things related to your tractor, even if it’s regarding something as simple as cleaning it. In the manual, you’ll find information about the recommended products and best practices, especially in areas that might need special attention. If you can’t find your owner’s manual, check the manufacturer’s website for a downloadable copy.
Washing the Tractor
Start by rinsing down the whole machine. You can use a pressure washer to quickly get rid of the caked-on gunk. Mix soap and water in a bucket and use a sponge to scrub the whole surface of your tractor from top to bottom and rinse as you go. Try to avoid getting water or soap suds in the instrument panel or electronic components. When your tractor is dry, you should lubricate grease points like the hydraulic cylinder rods.
Clean the Inside
Once you’re through with the outside of your tractor, it’s time to pay attention to the driving cab or seat. Those controls can get dirty, too. Use a damp rag to carefully wipe your controls and remove traces of mud and dust. Wipe down your seat as well so that you don’t get dirty sitting down. Use a vacuum cleaner to clear away the dirt from the floorboards.
Final Touches
A nice coat of wax will help to protect your tractor’s paint from scratches and dings as you work. Wax is easy to apply, and it will make your tractor look like new. You can use a car wax and a rag to buff the wax into the exterior of your machine, avoiding the seat, controls, and engine.
